Combe Martin & Berrynarbour Bridlepaths Need You! Thursday 17th February time 7.30 at the Dolphin, Combe Martin
Your president Marilyn Richards and treasurer Sharon Ward, both Combe Martin residents, recently attended the first stage of Devon County parish review of the definative map. It turned out to be a very interesting meeting. In Combe Martin there are many potential claims for paths to be classified as bridlepaths which currently are not. To insure that these paths are included in the review a claim has to be made, which is best supported by user statement. Berrynarbour's paths are also being reviewed.
We have a hard copy of the definative maps (which is not exactly the same as a normal OS map) or it can be viewed on devoncountycouncil
We plan to hold a meeting on Thursday 17th February time 7.30 at the Dolphin, Combe Martin to discuss which paths we think have valid claim to be added as bridlepaths and to gather user statements. We will have copies of the user statements at the meeting.
If you have any appropriate local knowledge please come to the meeting and help us put together a strong case.
If you can't come but know of a path that you have ridden, on a horse or bicycle, currently or regularly in the past, believing it to be a public right of way, please contact Sharon Ward, 01271 883349 email Ask your Grannies, Grandpa's, Aunties and Uncles too.
The definative map was first drawn in 1949 with incomplete reviews in the 1960's and again in 1970's so it may be a long time before we have another opportunity. Any unmarked path you ride now that is not claimed could be closed at anytime.
